63 caddy jetaway issues
Hi
I have just rebuilt a jetaway trans
Before rebuild car would not move at all
now after rebuild goes into and drives in reverse perfect.
however i have first gear perfect but no up shifts at all
no noises or vibration
and I have oil coming out of the breather
I haven’t done a oil pressure check yet (making a tester now )
any help would be appreciated cheers Daryl B

oil level correct
The upshift for 1st to 2nd problem can be due to a few things:
1) 1-2 shift valve is stuck
2) 2nd fluid coupling is not filling (Coupling valve is stuck)
3) G-1 section of governor is not working.
4) TV rod adjustment could also make the transmission "hunt" for the next gear if the rod is adjusted too short.
But since you have oil coming out of the breather, it sounds as if some sort of aeration is going on. I would check the main line pressure in different ranges. Should be the highest in reverse.
I would recheck the oil level first with the car running and in neutral or Park.

Hi All ,
thanks for all the input ,
I was back at the car today and did pressure check and it was down on pressure in drive .
Perfect in reverse
I removed extension housing to inspect Governor
and found my problem.
I had not tighten the two bolts that hold the cover on the governor. Absolutely disappointed in myself .
re installed and trans shifted perfectly.
once again thank for all the input
cheers and thanks Daryl B (Australia)
