I thought AE was a TH400 from the Seville with Olds 350 for the 1979 model year.

I'm referencing the Ron Sessions book on TH400. It does not specifically list the Seville as using AE

Ok. So either way it's a TH400?
Its mated to my 70 455. Is there any performance difference between different models years of TH 400's? Meaning is a later year (79 in this case) having a negative effect on performance when mated with the older 455?

Yes it is a TH400. Unless you find 'THM375" stamped on the tail housing which would have the 350 yoke spline count too.

The TH400 was GM's heavy duty offering compared to the standard duty TH350.

Performance differences? There are probably many differences in valve body, governor settings, shift points etc. I don't know those details.

My only concern would be the front and rear seal are good and pan/gasket doesn't leak. Otherwise, run it.
