Tranny seals
In a turbo 350 tranny it leaks from the shifter linkeage and speedometer cable.I have done the pans before but not them seals I was hoping someone could run me threw them. The speedometer is a little noisy also how do you greese them? HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Speedo cable is pretty straight forward. There is a bolt and retaining clip that holds the cable gear housing in. It may be a little snug to pull out. Once you remove it, there is a O ring on the outside and one on the inside that runs on the speedo gear. Replace both and reassemble. O rings were available at the local parts store.
You can lube the speedo cable with some graphite lube, but to do it right you should have the whole cable out so you can pull it out of the sheath. Wipe off any old dry lube. Apply the lube to the cable as you push it back into the sheath. As long as the cable is still in good shape and not unwinding or kinked, the lube will usually smooth them out.

You'r not alone - I have to do these seals on my tranny, too.
I got the seals for every outside part of the tranny from Rockauto - just need time (and a lift!) to put them in.
Do you have a service manual? Disassy instructions are pretty good in there.

There is a tool for the selector shaft seal, makes it easy to do. Make sure to coat the O ring liberally w/ vaseline or grease when installing - very easy to nick the O ring & have it leak again.
I do have a manual I just need to do it! Thanks alot you have been a HUGE HELP on my wiring!!
