Torque Converter Value??

Received a 1970 turbo 400 torque converter from a Cutlass 442 in a friends' garage clean out. Does it have any value to anyone? Or does it belong in the scrap pile? Guess what am getting at - are they "rebuildable" and valuable to anyone seeking original parts?? Thanks for any replies. Dave S southern New Mexico

Selling used converters is really hard. The problem is they're almost impossible to clean out without disassembly, so the buyer has to really trust you that the converter is in good shape and not full of junk. I have a very nice race quality converter that I'm trying to sell at less than half price and not getting any bites.

There are so many TH400 converters for cores that there's no useful core value either.
So if you think you might use it some day then cap it well and store it. Otherwise, it's basically scrap.

The place I get my custom converters say the old 350/400 converter cores are getting kinda hard to come by. I guess people have had the “there just stock converters, a dime a dozen” mentality for too long. There not worth anything tossed in the scrap pile, ask your nearest transmission shop to put it with their core pile.
