TH350 kickdown cable to 330 Qjet

Need help. I have tried unsuccessfully for a while now to install a detent cable to my 330 in a 67 Cutlass retrofitted with a TH 350. I had the Quadrajet linkage replaced with one from a 69 or later which accepts the cable. I have yet to find a bracket to mount the cable properly. Also I had to use a 1" carb spacer cause the new linkage hits the stock manifold. I can always go back to the original linkage. Would someone have a picture they can share that shows a working setup? Could use info on what parts were used. In this picture, it shows a Jegs bracket that will not work. Any thing you have on this is appreciated. Thanks

What year cable did you get? The kickdown cable originally was routed to the gas pedal until 1973 when they moved it to the carburetor. That could be causing some of your difficulty.

I think I have the same bracket for the 350 kickdown cable. Flip the Jeggs bracket over cut off one tab and bolt it on under the carb bolt. Should work, it did for me.

Could be. I think I'm trying to hook it up like a Chevy. What parts are needed to go thru the gas pedal? Thanks

Not for a 67.

To the OP: The mid-1970s Oldsmobiles ran the TH350 kickdown cable to the carb arm. Get one of those brackets. It will be a combined throttle cable and kickdown cable bracket.

I knew that, but I guess I wasn't clear in the post. It is a factory gas pedal for a car with the cable that goes to the pedal.

Again I asked him what year cable he bought because it might not be setup to be connected to the carb. If it was for a 69-72 it sure won't be.

The only way to make this work is to get a cable that is designed to reach to the carb throttle arm. If the OP doesn't have that cable, he needs to get one. Most GM vehicles with TH350 and Qjet were rigged this way. There were a LOT of factory cables and Qjet brackets made. Pretty much any Chevy with TH350. Any mid-70s to early-80s Olds, etc, etc.

Alternately, there are about a bazillion aftermarket cables and brackets available. This isn't the first time someone has done this.

You just need to do the same thing as post #3.

Here's what I did

Thank you all for your ideas. Here is what I did.
I replaced the carb linkage with the original for 67. That allowed me to lose the spacer and reinstall my dashpot. I took the linkage from the 69 and used a part of it to make a linkage for the detent cable. Only had to drill out 2 small rivets, the holes were the same in the replacement piece. Ground off some of the bottom so it makes no contact with the hump in the manifold.
Installed the cable bracket as one of you described, grinding off some for fit.
Plenty of room for adjustment, when I reach that step. And need to get a proper return spring, although I believe the pedal is spring loaded.
Hope this will help the next guy.
