TH350 Fluid Overfilled

Hi,
What is the recommended way to drain excess fluid from the trans? When I had the vehicle at the shop for some suspension work, I asked them to see if they could see where the trans leak was coming from. They filled it with fluid but not properly as the level is at the top of the marks on the dipstick when cold. Needless to say now I have no idea where the leak is coming from but before I tackle that, I want to make sure I take out the excess fluid to avoid causing any damage. Can I siphon from the dipstick tube to avoid removing the pan?

It should be checked with the engine at operating temp (hot) in park at idle.
I have cracked the lower trans line at the radiator with a catch can while idling to remove excess fluid .

How much over the fill mark is it? Not much over is not a concern.

Since it doesn't show to be over filled without the engine running, start it and check to see where it is cold and then where it is hot.

Correct but shop manual also has a procedure for checking cold level. At cold temp, reading should be a specific amount below the full line and mine is already above that at cold. I was apprehensive to drive it to temp if it was that full.

At cold temp it’s approx 1/4” above the full line.
