OMG!...Help?

About a month ago I took the OG coded Turbo 400 out of my numbers matching '70 442 to the local trans shop for a complete rebuild/upgrade. I was very clear about what I wanted done and had two specific requests:
1. Don't paint it. They have a nasty habit of painiting their transmissions a weird blue color
2. Don't touch the code tag
Both directions were repeated several times and written on the work order.

I got a call Friday that the trans was done and went in Sat. to get it. I paid the bill while they wheeled the trans out to the office and put it up on the counter. I was relieved to see that it had not been painted, just cleaned. The counter guy discussed the issues they had found and described exactly what work they had done. As he turned the trans so I could see the other side, he very proudly proclaimed "and we were able to get all the paint and crud off that tag - now it's bright shiny aluminum ready for you to finish any way you want. Sure enough, there, in all it's bright shiny naked glory was a nice clean OG code tag just waiting for some artist to perform his magic on it.

There was nothing to be gained by getting angry and shouting at anyone - the dmage was already done so I just grabbed the trans and left.

Now for the help. Is there any kind of stencil or decal that I can use to return the tag it's proper coded glory? Thanks

Randy

Might want to check with Year One or Performance Year. They may know where to get the tag silkscreened.

Well on the plus side the VIN on the case still matches so that's proof you have to correct trans if anyone questions it, but I still think the guy needed a good swift backhand right in the chops!

Thanks for the replies. I willl check both places on the silk screening. I don't disagree about the backhand but it likely would have been me that wound up in the slammer. Better to just walk away and cool off
