need help, column to floor shift conversion 1969 Cutlass. I am at a lost

I am trying to do a column shift to a console shift for my 1969 cutlass. I have a 1970 Th350 tranny(already did the jetaway th350 swap) a 1968 cutlass 3 speed shifter. I am going to try and explain my problem the best I can.
I have everything set up I have the new shifting bracket in its place, I have the shift cable connected to it and I have the trans mount bracket and the shifter cable installed it. I drilled the whole for cable and installed the new shifter ( I used old post on here and manual). I have the cable connected to the shifter mount bracket but when I go to hook up the cable to the shifter it is less than a quarter inch to short. If I pull it a little I can connect it but then when I shift neutral and 3rd gear and second is in the same slot.
I have tried 2 different cables one from part place and one from fusick(this is the one I am using). I have tried 4 different Trans backets from parts place fusick, from a member here and shift works. Shiftworks won’t even bolt up and same with parts place. The one from the member makes the cable mount to far back so it will not reach the shift bracket.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong I have check and double checked and checked some more.

The Th350 does have a shift kit in it but that shouldn’t matter.

Can you post some photos of the shifter end and the transmission end?
I do know the 70 shifter is slightly different from the 71, although that difference should not effect the throw length. Not sure about the 68.

Since your only off by a little bit, it may be a mixed combination that's causing it. Are you sure you've got the cable that goes with that shifter? I've taken several photos and created a new thread to help key out what goes with what. The link there is:

Hopefully members who know more than I do can help identify them. In addition, I have what I believe is a 2 speed and a 3 speed, the cable for the 2 speed is much longer. Here's a photo comparing those two.

On the other thread Eric identified the 1969-70 shifter. Since you used a 1968, and I'm thinking a 1970 cable as that's what Fusick offers, that may be enough to cause it to be off just a little. Can you post some pictures of what your setup looks like? Where you mounted it to the floor? The length of the cable?

thanks for the reply's I am going to go to the garage on Sunday and take pics then i will post them up.

My shifter looks like the one with the longer cable. I am also using the same trans bracket that is connected to it

I have thought about moving the shifter up a little but then the cable will not bolt up to the shifter with out the wire being bend.

here are the pics of the cable being to short to the shifter. The other pic is what I came up with today to try to fix it. Let me know what you guys think.
after adding the little bolt and screw like I did, it shifter the way it should. I really didn't know what else to do.

Thanks

John:
Those are the pics I sent of the shifter assm I have, wondering what year it may be from, it looks alot different than the others. It has the neutral switch mounted on the side and a mid length cable stud out the shifter side and different console mounts, any help would be great.
Thanks Ron
