More 57' Transmission questions - STUCK! HELP
Hey guys,
so pulled the 371 engine and trans this weekend. went very smooth.
engines going out for a rebuild and i am sitting with the trans, which I BELIEVE is a hydra-matic stamped number on case is " 8617539 " .
problem is, i cant find anyone to work on it locally. the shop i was going to go, says they use to work on hydra-matics, when they had an old timer working with them, now hes gone, retired, and they dont have the special tools anymore.
the trans wasnt that bad at all. i believe it has been rebuilt before. it slightly bangs when shifting, but that could be from the engine being so off and adjustments throughout the car not dialed in.
so, my questions are, what year is my trans? fusick.com says they have gasket sets for 56' hydra. and 57' JETAWAYs? ( i have a 57 super 88 ) so is this trans not OG to car???
and will a trans shop be able to somethings on the trans with out needing those special tools? like gaskets, filters etc??
thanks again guys!

There should be a metal tag on the transmission case, drivers side, that should say 'Hydramatic' on it. Below is a set of numbers that should read 057-XXXXX or 57-XXXXX. The '57' tells you it's a 1957 model. What does yours read?
