Manual trans in a G-body.

I recently picked up a 78 Cutlass roller. Nice interior, pillow top split bench, no rust on the frame or doors, a little on the drivers side roof rail, but no biggie. Contemplating making it a fun 4 speed car using my 3.42 GN rear now in the wagon. I have a nasty little 355 in the works for the wagon, it will probably want a little more gear. So, pop in some 4.10s, make it a fun 1/8 mile car and a stoplight terror. It already has the "race car stuff" while the 78 has A/C, etc. Yeah, the wagon is heavier, oh well. So, anybody swap in a manual trans into their G-body? I know Andrew has one in the works. And to be honest, I like the feel of a "Z" bar over a hydraulic clutch, so I would prefer that. Shorty headers leave plenty of room. Tranny gear ratio suggestions, parts suppliers, #s, product reviews, etc. Thanks, Jim

A couple years ago roaming a local bone yard I found about a 1979 Grand Prix with a manual transmission, 3 speed I think. I pulled the pedals, Z-bar, etc. but they crushed it before I could get more, or even look at the rear end to see what it was. I've sold the parts but I know that there were some G-bodies with factory manual transmissions, if you could find the factory parts that would make the swap easier. John
