I have a 1969 442 with a 4 speed that I'm in the process of restoring. I'm tryin to figure out what the proper colors/finishes are for the shift rods and back drive components. I cleaned up the originals and it looks like all of the shift rods and back drive rods are a dull black or grey and the back drive brackets are zinc or some other kind of plating. Does anyone know what the factory finish/colors where on these components?
I blasted the back drive components with plastic beads on my blast cabinet. It looks like the transmission bracket and arm might be cadmium plated . Maybe the equalizer bar as well. It looks like the frame bracket is zinc plated. It's hard to tell on the arm the goes to steering column. Might be cadmium or bare metal? Any thoughts?
