Do I need to have kickdown cable TH350

I picked up a 67 Cutlass 2 weeks ago and have yet to do anything but drive it put 1,500 miles already. So I have making a list of things to go over this weekend and one of them is to install kick down cable if needed. The trans had been swapped for a TH350 and one of the first thing I noticed is that there is no kick down cable hooked up so I need to downshift my self for a hill or passing. My question is it actually ok to be running the trans without one, does it in anyway effect shift points and does it put unnecessary wear on the trans. I don't think it makes a difference but there is definitely a shift kit installed.

Thanks
-Chris

Are you saying it has no cable and cable housing coming out of the transmission? You would have a huge fluid leak and the car would be undrivable in no time! It probably has a kickdown cable that's not hooked up, it just needs to be run thru the firewall and hooked up to the throttle arm to be made functional. Oops, I just noticed it's a 67. Don't know if that year has the right gas pedal linkage to hook up the kickdown cable for a 350 Turbo......

It's ok to run it without one. The only thing is you have to downshift your self, if you don't mind that it's ok. When I was rebuilding mine I eliminated the kick down cable, but I also installed center console with Hurst floor shifter which makes it a lot easier to downshift.
with 3.42 gears I hardly ever have a need to downshift in normal driving conditions.

It is not hooked up to pedal or carburetor. I have not lifted car up yet to see what is there but there are no leaks so I am expecting to find it covered or tied off somewhere. My plan is to run it to carburetor if it is actually need, I have a bracket from a 350 that I think will work.

No issues to drive without it on T350. Yes you can hook it up to the carb as the gas pedal is not set up to accept the Olds cable for a later model.

I may be wrong, but the carb linkage may not have a provision for it (assuming an Olds carb). I know chev's use a kickdown cable that connects to the carb.

He just needs to get a universal kick down cable setup with brackets and do some creative engineering.

There was no T350 available in 67, both the ST300 and the T400 were electric kickdowns, therefore no pedal hookup for a cable.
