Hi All,

Gathering the necessary parts to convert from the jetaway to 350 trans in my 68. It looks like the detent cable is available for 1973 and up from Dorman or ATP. Is the cable for the 69-72 Cutlass different? I have a gas pedal that has both mounts and wanted to order the detent cable.

The 69-72 detent cable goes thru the firewall to the gas pedal. The later cars have the detent cable connected to the carb. If your carb has the provisions for a detent cable and you have the necessary bracket that would be the cheapest easiest way to go.

 

I believe some of the mid seventies cars had it attached to the pedal as well. I had a 74 cutlass salon parts car that had it attached to the gas pedal.

Ok I came up with nothing on this, Found something on a buick site but not sure if the same as Olds. If possible could someone with a 69-72 cutlass with a 350 trans please take a picture of the cable attached to the gas pedal? I would really appreciate it

Does the detent cable that should be attached to my 71's pedal serve the same purpose as a carb-mounted kickdown cable?
