BOP Th350

Ok I understand that we need to install a BOP TH350 but is that anyway I can install a Chevy Th350? Is there a plate/bracket I can put on the engine that will make it fit? I am having a really hard time finding a good TH350 most places want 1100 plus shipping. I found a friend that will do the rebuilt for me for 600-700 and install for 400 but even finding a good core is getting hard.

For 2 months now I been trying to find one.I find tons of Chevy. Thanks

Jeez, this shouldn't be so hard for you

Before you go the adapter route switch to a Turbo 400

Tell me about it, everytime I call someone they tell me the tranny has been sitting for over 2+ years and it should run good, but for 250/350 and so on for a tranny that may be a core then another 700 to rebuilt will be crazy. I can buy a new one for the 1100. maybe I am trying to hard.

The new one is a rebuilt unit as well. If you can get one locally for around $200 & have it gone thru for $700 you'll be money ahead.

I purchaased my Turbo 400 from Jegs. B and M unit built up nice for under $1000 and it was under $1100 with the shipping! Guaranteed unit. Only 300 miles so far but seriuosly rock solid and shifts really nice.

The problem with buying from an online seller is IF there is a problem you need to remove the tranny and ship it back...could take a while to get any issues fixed.
Buy a crappy core and have a shop rebuild it. It will be under a grand. I had mine done, I asked for heavy duty everything cause I don't treat my car real nice.
I don't drag it but I beat the hell out of it. Smokes shows all the time, I treat it like I'm still a kid, thats why I bought it....to beat it and have fun.
When I did have an issue, I installed a new convertor wrong, He fixed it up or me in a day, brought the car to him, he took out the tranny and reinstalled, much easier than shipping.....(look at post 8)

I bought a couple used off the list for under $200.
Plenty still available.
Check fluid color and pull pan and look for clutch wear.

Looks like that's in Hooksett, right by Manchester, right off I-93.

Not a bad drive from NY - it's not up in God's country by the border or anything .

PJ, I know you have been looking for a long time, but it is NOT going to fall into your lap in queens, several very good leads have been sent, posted etc, but either shippinh/or driving to get it seems to be a problem.

You need to accept the idea that you are going to pick this thing up. I drove all the way to pittsburg for a pair of quarterpanels, that was 6 hours each way for me. I used to drive to connecticut and down to carlisle PA for parts, they are out there.

Deciding to go with a chevy adapter plate is just plain nuts, if your going that route then we might as well start thinking about how to get a chrysler 727 tranny adapted as it will hold up far far better. I know you have offers from several guys here, pick one that you trust or seems trustworthy, and go get it!! eventually you need to pull the trigger.

if you are spending that kind of money summit and many other places have rebuilt trannys with warranty already, this was said before as well..

a tranny fits in a normal trunk, so it is not like you will need to rent a truck

I guess I am just saying skip the adapter really it is a mickey mouse way to do what really is a simple change over, you are putting way too much thought into this you just need to get her done, method is up to you.

I personally would travel to a fellow forum member with a good rep, and take my chances, if your rebuilding it anyway you are at zero risk.

ok flame suit on, and I am stepping off the soap box...

:-)

You might consider a torque convertor also.

What is the rest of the set up? In the parts section someone posted the pedal you need. Take a look for it.

Uhhh what??? Doomah, I'll be your buddy. I'll be your bestest buddy.. BUDDY. Doing the rebuild for you for $600-$700 and install for $400??? That's a buddy deal??? Are things really that bad in your area??? That trans must include a hardened sprag race, aluminum drum and dogbone sprag, and a hardened input shaft. Sure hope it's a good one. Maybe I'm just taking things for granted since I can build my own transmissios, but I sure can't get that kind of money for a Th3500 build in OKC. And I'd gladly install one in an old Olds for $400.
