That's why I posted it. The bell has both Chebby and BOP patterns. And it's SFI certified, so no need for a trans shield at the track.

This would seem to be a much better option than spending the money to upgrade a 200-4r to accommodate big block Olds torque. $400? Cheap investment! I’ve already committed to three pedals, but I might consider this option when I get old..😂👍

I must have got "old" a long time ago. I only used the right and left pedal. What does the middle pedal do ?

Unfortunately, the $400 bellhousing is just the start.

Add double that for a good transmission controller, and another $600plus for a decent converter, it’s been a while since I had a driveshaft built so I have no clue what that’s going for today.

The advantage of a 4L80 is your not breaking it. Unless you spend big money, the 2004R/4L60 will always be a weak link.

You'll need to buy a converter either way, and while the cost is much less, unless you want to use the half-fast toggle switch you still need a controller for 200-4R converter lockup. And of course there's still the cost for the billet/hardened parts that need to go into the 200-4R so it will live. All I can say is that after comparing the internal parts of a 200-4R with those of a TH400 (on which the 4L80E is based), there is no comparison.

It doesn't suck, but today some internal parts (especially select-fit washers) are difficult or impossible to get.

It has it's place, but i don't think its behind a big block. Dollars vs. peace of mind there is no comparison to the 4l80e. With core availability, shipping and billet parts the 200 is just as much if not more than a 4l80e.

I’m having a hard time figuring out where to buy one. My bad if it’s in the video, I skimmed it and only watched certain parts.

You can buy one from FI Transmission Daniel (Owner and CEO at FI Industries LLC · Studied at Shandong University · From Qingdao, Shandong). You should probably have watched the entire video. Most of FI Transmission Daniel's contact information is towards the end of the video.

Re-posting since we know how the FB links (don't) work.

As of December 23, 2024...

US Customs records available for Fi Industries Llc in Chino, California. See their past imports from F.Ederal New Power (Qingdao) Inc based in China

Doing a google search of fi transmissions led me nowhere, I’m not on Facebook either.

I guess it depends on the application.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use a 200R4 in a mild small block application. Other than clutch housing and input shaft, I have never built a 2004R for big power for the exact reasons you point out. By the time someone invests the money to make a 2004R live in a powerful heavy car, that same money would be better spent on a inherently stronger 4L80. Same thoughts with the 4L60E. Behind a 700hp big block, a 200/700 will always be a maintenance item. A 4L80 will handle far more than that with ease.

The ONLY way I could justify spending the money to upgrade a 4L60E is if a 4L80 won’t physically fit (rear mounted trans in a corvette) or something similar.

Ironically, the 4L80E fits an A-body tunnel better than a 4L60E or 700R4 because of that wart of a servo cover on the passenger side of the trans.

The 4L80E is a tight fit as well, it is a PIA. Mine being a later one, I needed to dent the floor for central mount cooling lines. I even used 90 degrees adapters and braided AN lines, floor still needed hammered quite a bit. Also fitting the stock crossmember requires removing mount due to the huge case. Then you need to use a wrench instead of a ratchet to tighten the mount to the trans. This bell housing would have eliminated the bellhousing adapter which didn't come with longer dowels and I had alignment issues. As a FYI, the 6L LS converters are about perfect for mild performance motors. My reman converter, whole transmission was a reman, why it is one. This converter flashes at 2100 rpm. Others claim mid 2000's stall out of these LS converters. The Terminator X Max is controlling mine.
