Hello,
Can someone tell me what is behind this black plate which leaks ?
How can I do to repare it ! Does this plate unscrew ? Is there a seal ?Thanks for your help !
The cover is retained by a round snap ring. There is a o ring that seals the cover to the case.
Look at the 3 and 9 o’clock position, you will see a small hole. Put a pointed punch in the hole and lightly tap it with a hammer, that will push the snap ring out of its retaining groove. Once the ring is out, take a long screwdriver and hook the end on the lip of the cover, then pry it out. It should come out fairly easy.
More than likely you will find the accumulator spring broken. Purple springs are the most common, the performance cars got a heavier spring that is orange in color. Sonnax makes replacement springs.
Throughly clean the accumulator bore, especially the snap ring groove. Place the seal inside the case up against the squared off sealing surface, throughly lube the cover with Vasoline, and place the cover in position. Use a socket on the inside of the cover, and a long pry bar against the socket and floorboard. Once the cover is seated, reinstall the snap ring. Make SURE the snap ring is fully seated, if it is y you will know on the first 1-2 shift!!

I've looked for a spring and seal on the web, but I find only orange springs, never purple ones ! Is that a problem to put an orange in my transmission ?

Green is another common color.
I have never noticed a difference in shift feel with different springs. I’m betting the spring rate compliments a specific valve body calibration. Some people leave the springs out, some aftermarket valve body kits tell you to omit them as well. If you really want it to knock the dash out of the car on the 1-2 shift, some people put a large bolt or piece of pipe to immobilize the accumulator. Not only does that give a bang/screech shift, it’s very hard on parts.
In my opinion and spring is better than none. Use what you can find.

I can tell you that not using a spring is BRUTAL It will shift so hard at low speeds you will spill any open containers all over yourself. Use a spring !!!

Yes, I've understood that notion of brutality, when I'm a very cool driver in all of my cars ! 😉
