69 Cutlass T350 kickdown cable

As you can see, my transmission kick down cable keeps falling out of its hole. I’ve got the correct little holder, I think? How do adjust the cable and how do I stop it from falling out?

I assume you're talking about the plastic bushing not staying in the hole in the tab on the pedal? There should be little "teeth" on the outside that snap into place.

Unfortunately that little round tab keeps falling out. Should I try to find a new one?

Is the cable itself supposed to be tight against the little black ring/circle or does it hang loose?

Sorry, but again, what are you calling the "little round tab"? The round black plastic bushing that snaps into the pedal tab? If so, as I said above, it is supposed to snap into the tab on the pedal arm. There are supposed to be little teeth that retain it in the hole. If those are broken off, then it won't stay. Either glue it in place or get a replacement. Since this cable configuration was unique to Olds, I doubt there are reproductions available. And no, the cable is not supposed to be tight against it. If it were, your trans would never upshift.
