After 33 years and 2 cans of engine degreaser here it is. The output shaft has a little side to side motion. How much is too much? Should there be any?

The output shaft will kinda flop around, there is a case bushing that supports the front half of the output shaft. The extension housing bushing supports the driveshaft yoke, since the yoke slips over the output shaft the yoke is what technically centers the output shaft.

Slip the driveshaft yoke in the transmission, there should be very little slop. If so, the bushing is worn.

That's probably the cleanest Jetaway on earth. 2 wires: Kickdown and Switch-Pitch (my '68 had only one wire for kickdown).
