Question 66 cutlass won't shift

Greetings All

I have a 1966 cutlass 330 4bbl that wont shift automatically. The problem started (I think) when I replaced the carburator. I can shift the car manually (not good). Any suggestions?

i had the smae problem with the 65 mustang my parents have. the carb had work done, then the trans started shifting funny. dunno if they ever fixed it, but someone should be in to be able to help you soon. either way, welcome to the site!

Check to see if you put the vacuum hose back on for the trans vacuum modulator. make sure it is at manifold vacuum.
Also make sure the hose is not crack or broken ans is still hook up at the trans.

Had that happen on my 72 Cutlass when I replaced the carb easy detail to overlook. The tranny needs the vacuum assist to work right

Talking Thanks

Thanks for the notes about the vaccume hoses. THAT WAS IT!!! It's amazing how putting a vaccume hose in the wrong spot it would cause such a major issue. Thanks to all.
