64 Cutlass - Rochester 4Jet w/ 200R4 TV bracket
Evening all - hope someone can offer guidance for a new guy in need.....
I acquired a 64 Cutlass w/ 330 4Jet and JetAway 2spd. The guy who I bought it from put in a 200R4 from an 86 Cutlass right before I purchased it. All was good and well (sort of) until I noticed that there was no kick down and very little acceleration. The vehicle drove nice as a cruiser but if I even thought of giving it any pedal, all I did was waste $4 bucks a gallon.
Once I found the disconnected TV cable, I began to worry.
I see on here that many members have replaced the 2spd with a new 4spd 200R4 - currently I have the factory Rochester 4 barrel with the push rod throttle linkage. I went to hook up the TV and realized that with the factory linkage, the location to hook up the cable on the throttle lever would actually push back towards the firewall and not pull it out as intended and required. Any thoughts or tips/suggestions on how to make this work?
Any assistance would be much appreciated!

No, not backwards....
Check out the carb linkage in these pics.......the rod psysically pulls the lever backward towards the firewall. If I attach the plastic end of the TV to the nub on the throttle lever, it will pull backward and not out towards the radiator.

jag1886 has done this swap in his 1965. Here's a thread where he discusses it. If you don't find the answer there send him a PM or email to ask what he did to make this work. John
