2004r finished!!

Well with the help from the knowledgeable guys here and CK's manual I have officially been able to rebuild my first trans. It shifts absolutely great and feels responsive.
I've replaced transmissions and done my valve body but I have yet, until now done the hard parts. It was interesting to say the least.
I thank all those who chimed in to help with questions that I couldn't figure out. Hopefully other guys here who are rebuilding their trans will fix it with precision. Thanks again..now next up is some body work

Awesome, I am planning on the same thing with the 2004R to live behind healthy torque. Glad it works as it should.

Yea it just feels 'stout' and I don't mind chirping the tires on shifts either lol, thanks.

What tools did you use? Anything special or you use just a basic hand tools?

I used the dipstick that the 2004r came with. I did overfill the trans about a quart for the road test. Best reading is when the pan is off and seeing how far the dipstick reaches into it

Holdings fixture for the case, dial indicator, feeler gauges, adjustable stand for the low reverse setup (forgot the name of it) shift kit of your choice, vise grips and tape for direct & forward drum, what they call the 'abortion tool' for getting out and putting in the center support..if I think of anything else I'll chime back in. Tools can be found if you check your trans shops or look on ebay, online etc..
