200-4r Converter Stall Question

So my next project with our cutlass is to get rid of the th400 for a built 200-4r (probably from ckperformance) My question is, with a lockup torque converter, what stall speed should I get so that when in overdrive its not slipping? Car currently has 3.73 rear; 26" tires. Currently running 3100 rpms at 65. Hoping to run around 2100 rpms at 65 with 200-4r.

Also, with a higher stall like 2500 (what I have now) will this hurt, help or not much diff than now?

Depends on the intended purpose of the car and the powerband.

If it's just a cruiser, just call these guys and let them recommend one for you.
Chris has high quality stuff, and he has D5 converters rebuilt but they're not cheap.
www.roadrunnerconverters.com is a cheap and reliable source.

This tool I use says your RPM estimates were spot on.

Well car has a slightly modified '65 425 (.030 over so 432 now) motor out of toronado. about 10.1 compression, jm 20-22 cam, stock heads, stock intake, 750 quadrajet. Mainly what i want to be able to do is drive the car further and longer without having to rev the rpms so freakin high. Maybe go to the track 1 or 2 times a year just see what she'll do. Mostly though just wantin that 4th gear overdrive for more comfortable cruisin.

BTW Love your car bro. I was seriously considering doing an lsx swap at some point and was weighing the options between lm7 and lq9 swap. Finally decided I would keep the Olds engine and get an overdrive trans for better driveability.

Still gonna do my lsx project but now I'm thinking of pickin up a 71-73 camaro body and droppin the 6.0 w/t56 in her along with a fast 90 intake, TR 224/224 cam and 3.73 rear. Hopin to pull around 500 hp w/that combo but still get great daily driver manners.

I was seriously lookin at the 5.3 w/turbo option for the longest but after seeing your build up have decided the extra cost for the 6.0 engine makes up for the cost and headache of runnin the turbo. Maybe go turbo later on tho. Where did you source your 6.0 from?
