1963 f-85 TH200c tranny swap

I'm converting my 63 f-85 transmission from original hydromatic to a 80's th200c.

I would love to speak with someone who has completed this swap. I have the necessary adapter plate, and in theory it seems straight forward, but I would like to hear how things went from someone who has done it.

It looks like the tunnel will need to be "massaged" slightly. Wondering if I can do that without removing the engine. The biggest obstacle seems to be the bolts at the top of the transmission. I don't think I'll have room to get them bolted to the engine without removing the engine and assembling it out of the car.

I can be reached at 262-914-8720.

Thanks Scott

My question is, why that trans? They were weak in stock form. A TH2004r is a much better choice.

Tunnel space on the 61-63 cars is very limited. The Rotohydramatic 5 is probably the smallest RWD automatic that GM ever made. Nearly any modern automatic will require tunnel mods (as well as the obvious crossmember and driveshaft mods). On the other hand, the TH200, TH250, and TH350 are pretty much externally identical, so I agree, why use the TH200? It's a crappy trans.

Expect to have problems with fitting the exhaust around any other trans as well.

This is a known swap. Using this trans for the very reason mentioned in the last post, space. The original is very small, and the TH200c is very close in size, which means minimal tunnel modification.

Not looking for trans suggestions, just someone who has completed the swap.
