66 425 toro crank

Can someone please advise me if the forged crank (# 384772) I own is hardened or not ??.I have to have it taken down 10 or 20 thou ?? thanks

Hi Mike
I wouldn't hesitate taking the crank down 0.020 and using it that way in a street driven or weekend drag strip car.

It`s now crack tested ,aligned, 20 thou less on the big ends and 10 thou less on the mains

Progress! That's always fun. Post a picture when you have the engine assembled.

I don't know about the valves, but I do know that if the engine was well cared for you could have one that old without it being apart. Years ago I had a 1970 Cutlass with a 350 engine that had over 250,000 miles on it and didn't burn a drop of oil. When I bought the car I got all the service records that went back to about 60,000. Sadly the car got crunched when an oncoming car lost control and came sliding across the centerline at highway speed.
