Value of a nice set of trim rings ?
Whats a "nice" set of trim rings worth ?
I just pulled these off my 70 Toronado GT that I'm parting out. I have'nt got down to cleaning them up and checking every little detail, yet. But I did'nt notice and curb rash or major damage upon initial inspection. So I'm gonna say at this point they are NOT mint or show quality but are good driver condition as of now.
I was told by someone who looked at them personally and is into Toronados, that they are worth at least $200. I've had a few offers altho no where near that.
So I'm just curious what a rough guesstimate of their value would be ?

Being as those rings are hard to find not road rashed or beat all to crap, I think $200 for a good set is fair.
'Course if you wanna sell 'em for a hundred...
One of my best Carlisle finds was a nice Toro ring for the grand total of $5 as the seller had no idea what it was. I'm glad I didn't pay more than that for it, because we were trying to rearrange things in the back of that damn Bravada I had, and my buddy laid it on the roof rack and forgot about it- till we heard it hit the pavement behind us. Before I could get stopped and run back after it, a 4WD truck ran over it and destroyed it.
Far as I know, it's still laying on the side of US 15 near York Springs PA.
And that episode was one more nail in that Bravada's coffin. It was one of two vehicles I've ever owned that I really grew to hate.

Soooo, what exactly did the Bravada do to ya? I assume it's been recycled into something else by now.
8 or 10 years ago I advertised a set of 4 trim rings in Journey with Olds, for 200.00. Was a quick sale and had 6 or 7 inqueries from the ad including pleas "if the first buyer backs out please call me".
Keep in mind that trim rings for disc brake Toro and drum brake Toro are not the same.

Thanks for the help. Now, how do I tell the difference between disc or drum trim rings ? These are off a 70 and the car has discs. I beleive 3 of the wheels to be originals but not sure if these came on it originally or not.
Drum brake wheels will not fit on the front disc brakes so you must have disc brake wheels.

The 66-67 drum brake trim rings are physically wider from inner to outer edge than the 67 disc brake and 68-later all wheels.
Actually Allan, a guy at work bought the Bravada from me this winter after it snowed a foot and his big 2WD dually Chevy wouldn't go thru it. Put a fresh battery in it and it fired right up, and he drove it 25 miles home in snow. It was always great in snow and bad weather, but...
it was one of these rides that it was ALWAYS something had to be fixed. For what I paid for it, and what it cost me per mile to own it, it was the most expensive vehicle I've ever owned. Then after it started having some axle and transfer case issues I couldn't find anyone locally to work on it- as soon as they heard all wheel drive the immediate answer was "we don't work on those". Even the GM dealer didn't want to fool with it. That was when I parked it. I tried to sell it for over a year and couldn't get a bite on it for $1000.
So when the guy from work asked if I still had it and did I want to sell it, I said $500 and it's yours, and if you only get one winter out of it, you haven't been hurt too bad.
Within a month, he'd gotten the axle and transfer case fixed, put an alternator on it, and now drives it everywhere. He did mention a couple weeks ago he thinks the heater core is leaking, and that involves pulling the whole dash out of it, door-to-door.
One thing it succeeded in doing was convincing me that I will never again own an S-series GM truck.

Ok. Here are some pics. As you can see none of them are perfect but they are far from junk. Just want your opions before I post them for sale. I just wiped them down. I'm sure they will clean up nicely.

hey, I am new here, I have a 66 toronado, any suggestions on a fair place to order parts for her. I found her in a barn and she hasn't run in 10 years, got the engine running over the week end, interior is done, most of the work left is under the hood, one thing I am missing is the double snorkle air breather with the old's toronado on the cover, an and the "toronado" emblem from the rear passenger, just below the signal light. I look foreard to chatting and learning, I'm no pro, but learning every day, I sure turn heads when I o through town, plus it's a great way to spend a Saturday with my son, enjoy it know before he reaches his teens
