Since some days I work at my `67 front brakes. Front is raised and both wheels are free from the ground. To check the free wheels rotation I start the engine and engaged the transmission. Surprised both wheels are spinning in D in same direction. I know Pontiac RWD cars without posi traction only one wheel would spin if the rear is raised. With posi both spin then. Is it possible that there is a kind of posi traction lock in my FWD differential?
Posi (anti-spin) was never available for the Toro. Locked front wheels in a FWD car is a great way to lose control under poor traction conditions like rain. There are aftermarket Torsen-style differentials for these, but they are stupid money since they are targeted at the Motorhome community (where apparently money is no object). By the way, the 66-67 cars have the unique planetary style differential, so definitely not a posi unit since it wouldn't fit.
