68 toronado disc brake rotors

Looks like someone may finally be making these, but at close to $500 per rotor with shipping they are not cheap.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/12473082830...gAAOSw5NZgMVKj
Listing shows only 2 available and 2 sold. At first glance they appear correct but it is hard to say with no dimensions given in the listing.

Here are what originals look like:

Whoever that is, found some Chineseum rotor @ $ 32.89 each, had a shop drill 5 new stud holes -- and decided, he would sell them for a $ thousand / for a pair ?!?!? HAVE A HEART !!!! WOW !!!!

I hope for a $ thousand, they would be correct, at least ?!?! They have been "Unobtanium " for decades, as most of us know.....

I still have some *** N.O.S. *** Asbestos *** Brake Pads for that application, for nice smooooooth braking --- and NOT ripping up rotors to smithereens....... Craig.....

I agree. I am not willing to spend $1000 for rotors that are as you say most likely re-drilled from something else. Luckily, my originals are in really good shape with no ridge and for the amount of miles I put on the car each year, I am hopeful they will last as long as I own it.

I guarantee that no one is casting brand new Toronado rotors from scratch. These are adapted from a newer car that was close enough. The photos appear to have a bushing ring installed in the center bore, for example, I CAN tell you from first-hand experience that machining a set of Caddy CTS rotors to use on my 67 Delta cost me about $350 at the machine shop for the pair. That includes his setup time. In quantity (like 10 at a time or so) the unit cost for the machining would come down. Since it sounds like this seller has only machined four rotors so far, his costs are likely still pretty high. In commercial retail, 2X markup over costs is about right, given all the other expenses and the BS factor of dealing with the general public.

Of course, the question is, do you need rotors or not? If you can't drive the car because the brakes don't work, how much are you willing to spend to correct that?

Joe P. And I have offered these 1969 -:1970`Oldsmobile Full Size Rotors , that Joe P. Did the investigation -- and Know Definitively work -- to at least 6 or 7 people --- at a far, far fairer rate and
so far, all of them have homina-homina `Ed Ralph Kramden style !!!
Like Joe P. Says, "Do you want to drive the car or not"...

But a $ 1000 for a pair --- that is Very Steep... He might have sold 1 pair to a very desperate soul at that rapist fee... but really, make something, but that $ 1000 is absurd.....

Hi folks,

new here as a 68 Eldorado owner and know that this thread is aged but is there any new experience with this ebay offer and the quality/fitment of the offered rotors?
I am searching for replacements for at least one of my worn rotors and desperately searching for a solution which rips not a too big of a hole in my wallet for new rotors.

Cheers

Lars

The fact that they have 10 stud holes —- means he found some other Rotor that —- might —- work…. By drilling 5 holes for the 1967 - 1968 Eldorado / Toronado application….

I would make sure you are very sure they will work , before you fork over $ 800 for a pair… ask questions, for sure….

I have *** N.O.S. *** Asbestos *** Brake Pads for that application , which you better grab —- because these new Chineseum garbage brake pads of the world today —- will rip up those Rotors to smithereens…..

yours, Craig…..

Looks like whomever “ he “ is —- he had them listed years ago for $ 1000 / for a pair —- and has “ dropped “ his price to $ 790 …..

Good luck….

Have contacted the seller and he is firm with his "reduced" price and telling me that this are remanufactured rotors of a late GM model made fit to 67/68 Eldorado/Totonado

And, unlike the Great Joe P., who shared his “secret” with the Oldsmobile world on how to create the equally Unobtanium 1969 - 1970 Oldsmobile 88 /98 Front Disc Brake Rotor, this guy wants to cash in , BIG TIME $$$ , on his discovery….

He has taken a $ 32.79 Chineseum Rotor, added some machine shop work , and has decided to “ stick it to the world “ with his find… Unless you can find the magic elixir, you may have no choice…..

At least, I can help with a very reasonable price on some *** N.O.S. *** Asbestos *** brake pads for that application, which are +++ CRITICAL +++ for not ripping up that —- priced as Gold —- Brake Rotor…
$ 59 / set for one (1) or $ 100 / for two (2) sets….

Always best to simply call me, if you are in the United States —- 516 - 485 - 1935 , or if not , Private Message me, to exchange Shipping and Payment
Information…..

Yours, Craig …….

Craig,

thanks and I can't agree more on your thoughts about sharing knowledge and what was found out on one's efforts for the community instead of getting a price tag behind it.
I will do my research as well on which rotor can be used to modify for the fitment needed to get it on my Eldorado - not easy to manage from Germany where all the parts are located in the US but it will work and be sure I will share what I found and found out.

My pads are quite good - no need to change them but if so I will recall your offer.

Cheers

Lars
