Sway bar links and radius arm bushings (also called strut rod bushings) would be the first things I'd check.

Check the rest of the bushings in the front end too, as well as look for any loose bolts. I once had a loose bolt in the transmission that was doing it. Also keep in mind that bushings can look good but still be starting to go bad. Do you also have any vibration as well?

If it was a bushing you'd have excess vibration from the engine on idle and/or sometimes the road depending on which kind have the problem. The linkages DJS referred to, one or more loose bolts somewhere, or perhaps a bearing in something that's starting to fail could do it too (I had a dying water pump that did this), those are your best bets at this point. I wouldn't suggest throwing parts at it unless there's something that's clearly starting to wear out, there's an awful lot of things that can cause it.

did it squeak before you did the work? my car used to squeak, moan etc. driving and i replaced the rubber bumpers that go between the hood and the fenders, put four on each side. squeaks went away.
