Little custom fun with a '66-'67 air cleaner

I have a 1960 Cadillac Coupe Deville I've been working on for a while now. I started the engine compartment refurbishment this year, painting the engine, inner fenders, radiator, etc. The long block I painted in custom matched colors to my pinstripes I had put on the body. I didn't want to just do what everyone usually does and put on one of the aftermarket "batwing" Olds/Caddy air cleaners, so I began looking for something different. In my searches I came across a pic of a '66 or '67 Toronado engine compartment, and the air cleaner looked like just the ticket. The dual snorkel set-up really matches the "V" of the Cadillac emblem, and after having Bill from Bill's Auto Works on here graciously take a couple measurements on his, I decided to pull the trigger on one from a member on here. I got it and proceeded to hammer out and metal finish the surprisingly crude factory clearance dents until they were smooth and followed the contours of the rest of the air cleaner. I then painted it with the same paint that was used on the roof of the car. I then took it back to my pinstriper and had him do up the air cleaner in a matching purple. Still a little ways to go on the refurb, but I'm about done....Just thought I'd share a different idea of what you can do with stock parts to make your car unique, even if it's from a different brand

Thank you Eric. It's been a goal of mine to have one of these for a very long time, and I bought it for myself as a 40th birthday present after selling my '63 Riviera.

Lucas you have sure given that car a great life. I really like the pinstripes on the trunk lid. Did you do the hood as well?

Great custom job on the air cleaner also. Turned out too cool.
