Climatrol
Climatrol
Mine doesn't work. I am great with electrical and vacuum stuff, so it shouldn't be an issue when I delve into it this spring, but I wanted to know if there are good reference articles / tech sheets besides the factory manual.
It is for a '69 also, is the switch at the end of the gas pedal for kickdown?
3rd toro for me, but this is my first 1st gen.

The trouble with Comfortron is that it changed from year to year in Olds' continuing effort to make the stupid thing work reliably. Meaning service lit for one year may not do you any good on a different year. A good friend who retired from Olds as a Zone service manager once told me that from 1966-73 better than half of their Zone-level service work involved trying to make Comfortrons work.
Most Comfortron troubles are either master switch (on the A/C evaporator case) or temp sensor related in my experience. The good thing is NOS Olds Comfortron parts have always been pretty common on ebay.
Good luck with your "Gumpfortron". Friend had a 67 98 with it and that's what he always called it, since, like Forrest Gump's box o' chawklits, you never knew exactly what you were going to get when you turned it on.
The THM425 kickdown switch is on the gas pedal under the dash.
I have a 69 W34 Toro that has beat me up for nearly 25 years, so I may be able to help you with some stuff.
