66 Toro steering wheel in a 67???

The styling of the 66 Toro steering wheel is highly superior to that of the 67. Does anyone know if the steering wheels are interchangeable or if a safety design change occurred between the two years? I can get a 66 steering wheel for $75 and would like to swap them out.

Take it you've found a 1966 Tilt-Telescopic wheel- the "batwing" style as opposed to the standard two-spoke wheel.

If your 67 is a Tilt-Telescopic car, you should be able to change out the wheel onto your column. Far as I know the only difference between 66 and 67 T-T wheel is that you unscrew the hub on 66 to telescope it, and 67 has the lever at top of the wheel like later T-T columns.

However- if your 67 is not a Tilt-Telescopic car, you will have to change out the entire column. There are some wiring differences between T-T and non-tilt columns to take into consideration, and you will need both years shop manuals for the removal and installation process.

My '66 came with a standard column, and I've picked up a tilt tele for it. I have never noticed if the dish on the 67's was different, but other than that they should be interchangeable.
Let us know how that works out.
Both of these wheels of mine are cracked so I might make a wood rim for one of them.
Post up some photos of that '67; It looks like a beauty!

My 67 does have tilt and tele wheel. It is a boring 3 spoke wheel, I like the batwing style a lot more. I will go ahead and get the batwing wheel. I picked this car up for really cheap. I got it from the 2nd owners who have owned it since 76. They took immaculate care of it.
