My recently purchased ‘66 has license plate lights, but the housing doesn’t have holes in it for the lights. It looks like ‘66 and ‘67 were the same, and both have holes for the lamps. What is on my car??

The only thing I can come up with is that someone "restored" the tailpanel and painted over the license plate lamp lenses. See if you can remove the license plate surround and look at where the lamps are attached.

But also keep in mind my Toronado expertise is 68 and 69 which are very different.☺️

 

Looking at the photo again, it looks like I can see the shape of the cutout. I’ll report back shortly. lol

 

Al, you're right, there is a shadow of something in the lamp location.
