'66 Parts Needed

Recently, I purchased my first Toronado. I've lusted after these cars for a long, long time and I've finally had an opportunity to buy one.

Since getting the car home, I've found several items that have been 'Mickey Moused' over the years and and so I'm now attempting to make the corrections. I made a list of some of the important items that I need and I'm hopeful someone can help.

Thank you,
Chris

1. transmission kick-down linkage,
2. whatever mechanism/spring/hardware is used to keep the ashtray closed,
3. the steering wheel center cap with the Oldsmobile logo,
4. windshield wipers,
5. excellent condition Q-jet carb

Welcome to the site! I may have a couple of the items, but will need to dig around and see. I'm in the process of trying to organize the collection/clutter so if someone else comes up with the parts first buy from them.

nj, interesting car. The seats are from a 1969-72 as you can see the seat back release in one picture. Then the engine may have been from the same car as they put a 455 sticker on the air cleaner.

Do you have the deluxe or standard wheel? No carb on the car or just need a better one? I have all the other stuff and maybe more. I get back from Hershey Tuesday so drop me a line so I don't forget. Pat

NJ, thanks for the offer however I can't justify $1000 parts car since I only need $100 in parts. Thanks though. Deaddds, I snapped a pic of my steering wheel, which I believe might be Deluxe. I appreciate your help and will catch up with you in a few days.

Well- you've blown your budget on the carb, because I doubt you will find a serviceable one for less than $100. Then it will have to be rebuilt for modern gasoline.

You have a Tilt-Telescopic wheel. It's 1966-only but a lot of 1966 Oldsmobiles had it and the Rocket center cap is the same on them all.

The kickdown/switch-pitch control switch is Toronado-only but can come from either a 66 or 67. There are standard and trailer towing versions of it. One from an A, B or C body will not function right.

I have the kick down and solinoid. Do you need EVERYTHING? Bracket, rod, switch, wire? I'll figure out the ashtray to pull it apart but have it. Deluxe cap I don't think I have a spare but will keep looking. I have several standard. Wipers I have and Glenn is right, an excellent carb will be in the 300 range easy. I have a usable carb at 150 that does run but to make it sing, needs Sparky in Milwaukee to rebuild. If you are mechanically inclined you could try to rebuild but often takes more than a kit to eliminate hesitation and bogging.

Deaddds, that's great news about the parts.

As for the kick-down, I have the switch so I would need the rod only. I didn't know there is a solenoid but I'll take another look at the car in the morning to see if it's there or not. I'll of course take the wiper arms and ashtray bits. As for the carb, mine is running fine with the exception of the choke butterfly rubbing against the air horn. The choke is open and has very little movement to the closed position I was hoping a better used one might be available without spending $300.

Thanks for your help with this.

Deaddds,

Never saw your message. Maybe it went to the Junk folder. Anyway, yes I'm still interested so let me know what you've got and the price.

I got the wipers, ash tray spring asasembly, and kick down rod. $25 for the parts and shoot me an address for a shipping quote. Probably about 8 bucks to ship but I stopped trying to guess with UPS anymore. Thanks
