1966 Toronado Exhaust

I am getting to the point where my Autumn Bronze beast will be needing a new exhaust system. Rather than finding a custom shop I thought I'd order from Waldron Antique Exhaust. The question for you all is:

Do I use resonators or not?

I am not well-versed enough to know what it will sound like without the resonators and I don't want it to be too loud inside the car. Does anyone have a Toro without resonators on it? How does it sound?

I'm not sure where your located, so shipping may be way too expensive. I've got a set of tail pipes with glass packs instead of resonators that I removed from a 1966 Toronado a while back. They look to be in pretty good shape. John

I would use them. I just replaced my system on my 66 that did not have them. There were some holes so that probably contributed to the noise but now its subtle low rumble. Bill Payne in CO was making correct replacements for them. Look him up in the Toro club. They are a little more than regular aftermarket but will compliment the car nicely.

I think the factory resonators resembled glass packs. I would surely use them to cut down noise.

90-96 caprice and impalas use resonators. I don't know how different they are but may work as replacements.

IF you want a quiet cruising car, then use them. If you want a little exhaust rumble, then don't use them. Really the muffler choice will have a bigger impact than whether or not you use the resonators.

I just did my '68 from the muffler back in all stainless steel.
I used a Magna-flow stainless steel main muffler (use one designed for an '80s Camaro, it's a good fit). I also added stainless steel resonators, and pipes, and some nice ss turn-down tips to keep the bumper clean. Mine is still loud at slow speeds.

Nice Toros. I had a '68 in high school & college. It was a great car. I skipprd the resonators for a nice rumble.

I have 2 66s. One with the resonators and one without. I would go with the resonators. I like the quietness of the ride instead of the Hot Rod rumble. Now on my Cutlass that is a different story.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll go with resonators.
