1966 Quadrajet Number ?

Would anyone know the correct carburetor number for a 1966 Toronado 425 Quadrajet?

Mine doesn't have a number on it and is probably the wrong one. I have researched and found 2 possibilities.
7026250
&
7026256

I'm thinking this is a typo error.

If someone could take a look at their original carb and get the number, it would be greatly appreciated.

7026250 is the correct carb for a 1966 425 49-state car.
7036250 is the carb number for a 1966 425 with California A.I.R. system
7026256 is the carb number for a 1966 442 with 400 motor and Jetaway trans

This info comes from the foot thick Rochester Carb "bible"

1966 Q Jet

Hi Dave: Just FYI, I thought the 66's had a carb problem that was subject to recall? Please research the reason (Hello Joe?) if it was the carb and make any correction before using 1966 carb on your engine. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

Hi Trent
Great point. It turns out that the 67' Toronado quadrajet was more refined. There were several issues with the 66' version.
I was able to locate a good 67' core and with a lot of help from Pat, Joe P. and Jeff at Jeff's HP Carb Kits, we were able to rebuild it.
The Toro has never run better.

What problem? They just burned the cars to the ground. Why would that be a problem. Fixed a ton of those back in the day.

Unlisted carb #

What about 7026254? Seems strange, is this a less common part?

The question was about a 1966 Toro carb. I didn't post every possible 1966 Qjet.

Since you asked, 7026254 is for a 330 with manual trans in a 49-state application (the Calif cars with A.I.R. used 7036254). It's "less common" only to the extent that manual transmissions were less common than automatics. You'll also note that once again the Cliff Ruggles myth that even means AT and odd means MT is incorrect. Ironically, the AT cars with 330 got the '255 carb.

Thanks for the information and quick reply! That’s actually the reason I asked, I’ve been running the 7026254 on my ‘66 Toro since I bought it a couple years ago. Didn’t find it strange until I went to order a carb kit and it didn’t seem to be common toro carb.
