1966 going to the scrap yard

Anyone want to save a 66 Toronado from going to the scrap yard? Man has it listed as a parts car. He says He is dumping it. His mom isn’t doing good... He is located in Hillsville Va.

This man has rebuilt many Toronados in the past with his father. His dad just passed recently. The car was supposedly put together to run down a track back in the day. I was in touch with him a couple months ago trying to buy just the motor since it was listed as a parts car. He has a 400 transmission and some good metal along with the car. Last price I had from him was $1000. He just contacted me yesterday afternoon and said it was going to the scrap yard. I figured I would mention something here to see if it could be saved. It is a shame to see history destroyed.

All I can offer is $500 .
It's a little more than the scrap man will give him .

It may be a couple of months until I can get up there to get it though .

Sounds like he is having a rough time and might be overwhelmed which is understandable. We all have those periods. However, to scrap a complete 66 Toronado? This guy is not thinking clearly right now. I hope someone can go save that car.

Yes... I hope so too. I sent this man’s number to the first guy who responded in this post. I also spoke with the man who owns the car, and told him there was some interest here in the forum. He thanked me and said he would check it out. Hate to see it get dumped for not much of nothing.

I am also interested in the car, but would like to either see more photos or speak with the owner to determine its value, before making an offer. Ask him to call me to discuss. 636-458-4402

I'd be interested in it, but alas as a parts car. Location is a bit of an issue as it's 6 hours from me. Maybe if there's a few of us in the deep south that are interested we could work out a community deal.

The only light at the end of that tunnel is that the parts would go to other cars, and not just turned into rebar.

Beautiful car....... sad, I know where several 66-70's are here in northern California that I would buy just for the 455's, but am hesitant because I hate just throwing the rest away..... Just feel like a dirtbag doing that.

That is great to hear... I noticed the car disappeared from marketplace, and I was wondering what became of it.👍

Saving a 1966 Toro !

Hi Marty: Nice to hear a good ending to a story that usually goes the wrong way. I am the editor of the Oldsmobile Club of America Toronado - Aurora Chapter newsletter that has been around since 1985. I am happy to offer you a free ad for parts you don't need for as log as you want to run the ad. No problem, I want to see the parts go to a good home and maybe pay you back for your time and gas investment. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles
