Trans/driveshaft length

Ok...this may be a little confusing but here goes.

-I have a GV unit and TH400 in my '70 Olds with a custom drive shaft.
-I have a TH400 (long tail) in my 65 with a custom drive shaft.
I want to switch the 2. (put the GV unit in the 65, put the long tail TH400 in the 70)

What are the odds they're close enough to work?
Or think of it this way....what is the distance between the back of the block and the front of the rear pinion?
-peter
