Specifications 1959 Ninety Eight

Just wondering can anyone steer me in the right direction to locate the specification for my engine. The engine number does not seem to match up with some sites I have researched. Also where to decipher the casting number, production plant etc.

Thanks

John.

Re: Specifications 1959 Ninety Eight

You should have a 394 V -8 if you have the original engine. All 98's came standard with a 394, which is essentially a bored out 371.
You should buy a service manual. They are available on eBay, and there's one on this site for $20, a deal. It has decode lists for your cars trim tag and VIN tag, plus the numbering system for the engine and tranny. You'll need it over and over. Won't pry mine from my cold dead hands.
