Over heating problem / water pump question

65-442. 400ci stock a/c car ...was over heating when at red light a/c off .. Found that I had 7# rad cap ..changed to 16# and went with 180* therm. Now I am getting leak behind water pump which I did not have before ... When looking Thur rad cap inlet you can see water moving rapidly
Question is water pump still good and gasket went bad or pump is out ... Can't tell if it is coming from small hole bottom side of water pump or not but you can see water coming from under water pump. Any help here!!, thanks

It could be leaking not only from the weep hole on the bottom, but also radiator hose, bypass hose, and heater hose. Does the water pump shaft move when you wiggle the fan forward and rearward?

I'd probably go with bad water pump.

I think your right ... When it over heated 40 miles from my house I filled with 50/50 antifreeze and drove home .. Temp never got above 205 ... When pulling into garage it started spilling out hole in pump ... Let it cool down .. Filled up with just water and it dripped out of same hole ... Going to order one now Thanks

Take your wp to the store, or provide its casting ID and we can tell you its measurements.

There are three lengths, two different inlet nipple sizes, and some other less troublesome variations to make sure you get right.

Do not turn in your old WP for a core if it has OEM casting ID's unless it is the ubiquitous #4 casting.
