1971 Optional Equipment List ??

I am trying to find a list of optional equipment available for 1971 442s and their costs that year. I have the original bill of sale for my car and it lists the total cost for options, but does not list each option and its cost. I was hoping to match options costs to the car in hopes of substantiating its originality. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you,

friesjh

Awesome! Thanks Joe. Are there pictures for some of these options anywhere? Some of the options I'm not sure what they look like, especially the interior options.

Thanks again!!

Unfortunately not in a single reference like that. If you tell us the RPO codes you're interested in, someone can probably post a photo.

Great, thanks! Just at first glance picking options I'm sure about and some I'm not so sure about I'm $100.59 over the total option price listed on the bill of sale. I'll get a better look when I get home from work.

The Salesman's SPECS manuals (except for 1970, unfortunately) are all on line at oldcarbrochures.org.

If I recall correctly, the Wild About Cars website has the 70-72 Salesmen SPECS manuals available.

Don't forget those specs and prices are for one period in time - prices sometimes changed, among other things.

That is an excellent point that applies to all factory literature (dealership brochures, SPECS booklets, CSMs, parts books, assembly manuals, etc). Nearly all of these items have a printing date on them, and obviously things can change over the model year. Next time you look at an assembly manual, note the change block at the bottom of each drawing. Nearly every page has at least one revision with date, which reflect running changes to the configuration.

As an example, the Vista Cruiser wasn't released to the public until Apr 1964. It doesn't show up in the CSM at all. The 400 motor doesn't show up in most versions of the 1965 CSM either. The version of the 1968 SPECS manual that's available on line is a January 1968 edition and has this change information from the Sept 67 edition printed on the last page. Note the very first bullet:

Check out the Old Car Manual Project. Oldsmobiles They have a lot more than that. I don't know if they're a side branch of Automotive History Preservation Society (AHPS - which absorbed WAC - WAC no longer exists BTW). AHPS does charge for access to their site, but has a bit more to offer, like CSM's for a lot of body styles. AHPS isn't just GM, they have a conglomerate of information related to NA brands, and imports.
Old car manual project is a free resource still.

That was the site I was talking about that doesn't have the 1970 SPECS booklet.

Well, for giggles then here's what the 1970 442 SPECS had.

Cool, thanks.

Now, find the typo on that page.

Hint: It's in the footnotes under the factory-installed power teams table.

That is good to know, that the prices could have changed. All I have is the Motor Vehicle bill of Sale for my car. I was hoping to match prices of options with the total cost of factory options on the bill of sale in hopes of trying to proving it is an original 442 with the W25 option. From what I came up with as far as options, there is a $4.19 difference between cost listed from the cost sheet posted in this thread and the cost on the bill of sale I have for my car. Pretty close.
