Rag Joint - space between gear box

Hope ya'll are well. 1970 Cutlass Making the GCJ steering box change......took some pics before disassembly but missed a detail... when installing the rag joint onto the steering box spline, should the rag joint be touching the surface of the box or do I leave a little space between them? Thanks

found below on line - seem correct?
All hardware is included. Machining tolerances are tight, so depending on your gearbox, initial spline fitment may take some finessing. But once mated and the set screw secure, everything is rock solid. Don't forget to leave about 1/8" to 3/16" space between the steering box and rag joint.
