NOS Shock Absorbers

Will old nos shocks still function many years later? The rear shocks on my 1961 S88 need to be replaced and there are a few new nos still sealed in the package for sale on ebay and wondering if they would be any good.

Sure will! I have used two sets of NOS shocks and both sets worked perfect. These were the Pleasurizers that Delco made and the ones I used were dated 1968 if I remember correct. The latest set I got I have 1300 miles on and work great and no leaks.

As a side note, I thought the first set I used were bad but after they lay down the oil is in the wrong place. When I worked them a few times in the proper position they were fine.

Thanks. The ones I saw are the pleasurizers. Is $130.00 a reasonable price for the pair? The car still has the original spirals which I might get reconditioned.

I guess it is a matter of what car they are for. Some cars are easier to find shocks for than others. For the 61-63 Cutlass I would pay $130 for them with no problem but those are hard to find. This day and age, $130 is fine in my opinion.

There were others for a lot less money but the sellers are all over the place as to what they fit. I made the purchase and I'll hope for the best. I had changed the front ones and the rubber is already deteriorating, they have maybe a thousand miles on them and I bought them from Carids. They didn't even fit right, supposedly they are AC Delco.
Thanks for your input.
