Question Moog Springs application opinions?

Ok- I am trying to decide what rear coil springs I am going to use on my 70 Cutlass S. The originals cannot compete with a full tank of gas, much less loaded full of people.

So, if my research is correct I narrowed it down to 2 models:

Moog 6321 (original specs, I believe-Can't find factory spring rate specs)
and Moog 6319. One is for the 350 motor and one is for the 455. The big difference is load height and load rate. Everything else is the relatively the same. I am looking for a little height, but not too much that it makes the car's stance look odd.

Not sure if the 1/2" load height is a dramatic difference or not. The signature picture below is the stance with the stock 40+ yr old springs (front coils have been replaced already).

Any insight would be helpful.

6321 Inner Diameter-5.580 Bar Diameter-.53 Load Height-8.5" Load Rate-689 Spring Rate-119 Free Height-14.29"

6319 Inner Diameter-5.580 Bar Diameter-.53 Load Height-9" Load Rate-616 Spring Rate-119.2 Free Height-14.17"

Rock Auto and Federal Mogul (Moog) list the 6319 springs as applicable to Cutlass convertibles with the 455, the 6321 springs are listed for Cutlass coupes with either the 350 or the 455. I got the 6321 for my holiday coupe - sitting side-by-side they're slightly taller than the originals and have one less coil, but they're the same bar diameter (I measured 0.525 in.). I was going for stock height and ride, but I haven't installed them yet.

These are standard duty constant rate springs. If you're looking for for more load capability the 5385 heavy duty constant rate springs or the CC501 variable rate springs are applicable. From some of the other threads on this subject these springs can have a more harsh ride and may sit a bit high when the car is empty.

Don't know if any of this is helpful to you, but that's what I learned from researching springs for my car.

I will assume the ride heights given are when the springs are installed on the assigned car (coupe or convertible). Putting convertible springs in a couple will prolly make the ride height a little higher, since the convertible is about 100lbs heavier (boxed frame).
I would go for the ones made for your particular application if you plan to stay close to stock.

Good feedback. I will go with the 6321, thanks.
