Lets talk brakes/suspension

My '67's drivetrain, bodywork and interior are at the end stages of being done. Now it's time to do the brakes and suspension. I want to do a 4 wheel disk set up. Anyone try one of the Ebay kits sold for $700 or so? As far as suspension I'm thinking a stock front end kit and lowering springs. Any suggestions? I've done polyurethane bushings in the past and they were punishing.

Best bang for the buck for big brakes IMO is Kore3 for a C5/C6 brake set up. As for suspension I would contact Marcus at SC&C again in a second. I followed his advice and ended up was a car that handled like a modern sports sedan which is exactly what I was after.

It would be "The Right Stuff" for me. A friend of mine owns "Bailey's Garage", an on line parts supplier. He recommended "The Right Stuff" to me because he doesn't handle brake systems. They were a great find!

I'm currently doing a brand C '55 truck with a Nova rear end, so I bought rear discs for the Nova ($350, show special). A year later I realized the ebrake cables weren't going to be the right size. They have told me to measure how much longer I need, and that they will swap them out if they have something that works. (haven't done it yet...) Now that's customer service!

I also bought from them what appears to be high quality 2-pound residual valves (the blue ones, $10 each), and adjustable proportioning valve for $39. Good value.

They're located in Columbus, OH, and show up at the larger Ohio swaps and major swap meets like the Charlotte Auto Fair. Of course, they ship internationally.

Thinking about these but with the 2" dropped spindles : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT. Anybody deal with this seller? I'll do the rears after I decide what rear end I'm putting in. Thanks.

People you should contact IMO that know brakes.
Kore 3 > Tobin is the mad expert there, and he's VERY well known on the Pro-Touring forums, Chevelle, Nastyz28, etc.

Ed Miller > Just Google his name and you'll see he's EVERYWHERE. I bought my front C5 vette big brake setup from him complete.

Yep, but I got mine from Ed Miller.
Either one works. IIRC the C5 Caliper is a single piston 40.5mm
I found a great place to get top quality zinc coated D+S Vette rotors CHEAP from Raybestos too.
Apparently they have a facility in the NW Burbs of Chicago, by Crystal Lake iirc.

I also agree with SC&C , I have their adjustable upper control arms. Sweeeeeet stuff.

Looks like factory calipers for these cars. An upgrade from drums,
but for a FEW $100 more you can get much better.

Depends on whether you can fit bigger behind your rims though.
But the rotors are upgraded to D+S and the master looks like the 79 Vette MC

Everyone I've talked to said the 79 Vette master is the best
OEM master to use for classic Disc/Disc applications on a budget.
$50 for a new Raybestos one on RockAuto.

It's in both my 78 Z28 and 70 442 tribute.

If you want even BIGGER I've been eyeballin CPP's big brake kits.
They're 52mm caliper piston VS even C5 Vette's 40mm
http://www.superchevy.com/technical/...ion/index.html

I would say just do the Chevy S10 disc conversion on the rear though.

The big question was how well our Nova would stop with all these new parts. Our first test on the original wheels was 197 feet. Just by swapping on the new tires that number dropped to 188 feet, but the drums were toast after only one hard stop. With the new hydroboost-assisted brakes and Nitto tires, we managed a best stopping distance of 128 feet!
Nitto's are on my car as well and they ARE DEFINITELY way better rubber for grip.

I'd rather spend a few hundred more and get a better setup. I'll look into the ones you mentioned. Thanks for the help!
