69 convertible punishment
69 convertible punishment
Bought a 69 conv 2mos. ago. Need to make it driveable as all bushings are deteriorating and unsafe. Stuck in a bad spot; want better handling and new parts, want to fix it asap prior to surgery, drowning in research for proper config, don't want to pay for things twice.
Could be in for trouble.
Removed the following so far:
lower ball joints, tie rods, centerlink, idler, passenger side lower control arm
Stuck on the following:
driver side lower control arm(one bolt rusted in bushing sleeve; read forums; choosing to grind bolt head and tail off and trying to drop it out that way vs. torch and pounding it out; not enough maneuver room)
Ordered the following:
Prothane 311-7-2001-BL BUSHING KIT GM 66-72 BLK
Moog DS749 Steering Center Link
Moog K5143 Steering Idler Arm
Moog ES681N Tie Rod End
Moog ES2032S Tie Rod Sleeve
Moog K5108 Upper Ball Joint
Moog K5103 Lower Ball Joint KYB KG4513
Moog 5374 Constant Rate Coil Spring
It had springs that had 5374 stamped into them so I hope I'm doing the right thing. I was wondering if I should be getting the 5390. I'll probably be paying for this twice. I hope it handles better. More to follow.

The lower control arm bolt can be torched off thru the bushing, or grind the head and nut end off. Looks like all your parts ok, but I don't see stabilizer links. And MAW do shocks. Double check your brake lines while your there too.
KYB KG4513 didn't make it to their own line on the first post.
Driver side lower A arm off now. Used Dremel to grind and pry out. Upper passenger A arm out. Might grind off driver side bolts to get that A arm out and press out old bolts with modified C clamp and socket. Referring to old post from https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/general-discussion/34347-upper-control-arm-removal.html.

Here's a picture of the front tore apart. Still struggling with choice of control arms. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...02-resize.html
