'67 F85 442 phantom
Hi everyone. I'm collecting parts to build a '67 F85 442 phantom and I was thinking of raising the car an inch or two front and rear in the style of the super stock drag cars of the sixties. What springs could I use to accomplish this. This will be a 400/4 barrel, 4 speed, manual steering, manual disc brake car with no air. Also looking to have some custom steel wheels built to put redlines and poverty caps on. Going with 15X7. I also want a custom backspace on these wheels. I tried a late '70s Monte Carlo wheel, but it tucks up under the quarter panel a little too far for my taste. I'd like to have them further out toward the wheel openings (wider track). Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks!
If your refering to the Monte Carlo ralley wheel then try a Corvette ralley wheel 69,70. They are wider and reproduced not to expensive. I believe the center cap lugs are inside the stud area of the wheel as opposed to the outside so choice of poverty caps may be limited.
Mine is about 2 inches over stock. That is what I asked for from Detroit Eaton Spring company. I also use 15 inch rims with tires just over 28 inches tall. Wheels are 15 x8 rear with 5 inch backspace and fronts are 15 x 6 with 3 inch space either side.
