Need Carb Help

Help....I have a '68 with nothing original in the top half. I would like to keep it as close to stock as possible, but not necessarily numbers matching. I found a 1970 Olds Rochester I was hoping to put on to avoid the search for a divorced choke manifold. Come to find out, the inlet threads are deteriorating (which I guess is common). I've heard of others going the Helicoil route in such intances. I've also thought of getting one of the Holley rebuilt carbs from Summit but I have no clue as to their quality. I would really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions from those that have gone down this road. Any carb rebuilers on this site that others have used?
Thanks, Mike

They used to sell repair type new fittings, I'm sure they still do. I have to olds one, one uses a O ring, and set screw, and the other is oversize, self cutting threads type.

the "quick fix" replacement fitting normally result in nothing but problems.
especially the over-sized, self-tapping one which may render the carb. "unhelicoil-able" in the future.

do it once, do it right-get it helicoiled.
