Radiator Overflow tank

I want to install a tank on my 1971 Cutlass w/350 engine. An original spec is about 180.00. I found the wandering the internet. Any thoughts, or experience of any that would fit reasonably well. At the price I'm tempted to try one. We owned a '78 Firebird & if memory serves the right inner wheel covering is similar to the Cutlass.

I installed a Dorman tank from the local auto parts store and it works well, so that one should be fine. I'm a functionality guy as my car is a daily driver, though, so I'm not so concerned with originality. Then again, I thought the overflow tanks were first offered as a dealer installed option starting in 1972.

I like to keep my old cars as original as possible. Biggest change in this one was HEI added. Thanks for the opinion. This tank looks like it might have come from the factory that way.

I can understand that. I have been modifying mine since it was a used car in the 1980s so I'm still in that mindset and not really concerned with it being all original.

It honestly looks good to me. It is a lot better, although more expensive, than what I am using.

I have been thinking about getting a larger reservoir. I have a ZingZang Bloody Mary Mix bottle that should do the trick.

You could do this, but I think the color is all wrong:

Maybe this instead:

On my 1982 delta 88, the original rad expansion over flow tank is mounted on the fender well . That is a bad location to have it , as its cracked and pushed in from shop workers leaning on it . The pushed in cracked top of the coolant tank collects dust and dirt and directs this dirt / dust into the tank . Then what ! dirt finds its way into the engine and water pump seal . So no point in buying a new original tank as it will just get leaned on again and crack again . So i also use a glass whiskey bottle mounted on the passenger side . It does take a while to figure out the proper level of coolant . It will take some thinking of how to keep dust and dirt out . Could cut a finger off a disposable latex glove or cut a used rubber bicycle tube , pull that over the glass bottle .
