new owner of a '53 98 - with questions
Hi group.
I recently acquired a low mileage 1953 98 4-door. The car has a 303.75c.i. engine.
My plans are to restore the car to original condition as possible beginning with the engine compartment.
Can someone tell me the correct paint colors for the following items:
engine block and heads
intake manifold
oil pan
inner fenders and the panel in front of the radiator
any miscellaneous brackets, etc.
Any help is appreciated - I can't find this info anywhere.
thanks!
Casey

Congratulations on your find! I believe the engine and manifold were green, pan was black. I think you will find a few people on this site that can tell you for sure. Welcome to our site.

Thanks for the reply.
Would the engine block also be green?
I am curious about the inner fenders as well - there isn't any original paint on them but I assume they are probably semi-flat black.
Hopefully someone else on the board can help me too.
I have just restored the fuel delivery system from the tank to the carb - the next thing to do is get into the wiring and see what works and what doesn't. There are a LOT of fuses in this car and a ton of light bulbs! Hopefull that is all that's wrong - I can't see any wiring problems or splices just yet.
thanks again!
