I bought an Airtech E8012S 12v fuel pump for my 330 4bll. This pump is rated as putting out a max of 9 psi. Will I have to get a regulator to use it or will it be ok without one? I will e bypassing the mechanical pump as it developed a bad gas leak and I can't get a replacement locally.

Seriously, you can't find a Carter M6108 (w/o return line) or M6109 (with return line) fuel pump locally? I am shocked.

The places I phoned could get it but didn't have it in stock. Maybe if I give them the Carter number I'll have better luck. Can the return outlet just be plugged. I'm not opposed to putting in an electric pump though so Is the output pressure of 9 psi too high?

I think the QuadraJet has a maximum pressure of about 7 psi. You could try and see if 9 psi causes flooding or an overly rich condition.

I have a 4gc carb but it probably has a similar requirement.

Yes, 9 psi is too high. You can use a vacuum gauge to also measure fuel pressure.

It depends on the year of the QJet or 4GC you are using.
1964 330ci 4GC - 7-8.5
1965 330ci 4GC - 7-8.5
1966 330ci 1st Gen QJet - 7.75-9
Since 1967 is the 2nd Gen version of the QJet with the more common needle and seat it's no more than 7psi

So the 9 Psi would probably be fine on my 65.
I did find a stock mechanical pump so I think I'll go that way as I'm pressed for time as we're in the middle of a move.

Changed my mind on using the mechanical pump. The one I got (supposed to be the same as a carter 6108) had an outlet for a 3/8 fuel line and I needed a 5/16.
Anyway went with the electric. What is a good source of switched power to run the pump?

Finding parts can be tough around here for old cars. RPM in Sasktoon is about the only place worth dealing with. I was going to replace rocker arms, good luck finding them locally. Hopefully that pump is one of the quiet ones. There should be an ignition spade for key on power in the fuse box. I would still add an inline fuse. All the Olds mechanical fuel pumps have 3/8"

The problem with RPM is that they are always "out of stock", as they were with the fuel pump.
As for the outlet size, the replacement one was one size larger than the old AC one I removed.

You probably have a rare pump then. I have only ever seen the 3/8" outlet.

Got the Airtech pump installed. Took it for a drive and it seems work fine. The carb handles the high pressure fine. Took my two granddaughters, 5 & 7 for a short ride, their first time in a convertible. They squealed with delight the whole ride!

Awesome. I bet that 9 psi pump actually puts out less than advertised pressure.

I'm sure it does it's rated at 5.5 to 9 psi. By the time it goes though about 10 ft of line the pressure will have dropped significantly anyways. I rubber mounted it so you don't really hear it when the car is running.
